Como actor cinematográficu intervieno en 129 filmes dende 1914 a 1935, siendo sobre manera recordáu pol so trabayu na cinta bélica All Quiet on the Western Front.
El so últimu papel teatral tuvo llugar na pieza Night of January 16th, dende setiembre de 1935 a abril de 1936. Xusto primero que se remataren les representaciones de la obra, Breese desenvolvió una peritonitis, de la cual finó'l 6 d'abril de 1936 en Nueva York. Foi enterráu nel Campusantu Forest Lawn Memorial Park de Glendale, California.
