Katie Gertrude Meredith , más conocida como Kate Wilhelm, ye una escritora d'Estaos Xuníos especializada en lliteratura fantástica y de ciencia ficción.
Vida Katie Gertrude Meredith nació en Toledo (Ohio), fía de Jesse y Ann Meredith. Graduóse na high school de Louisville (Kentucky) y trabayó como modelu, telefonista, vendedora y pa una compañía de seguros. En 1947 casóse con Joseph Wilhelm, col que tuvo dos fíos. En 1962 divorcióse y casóse col editor, críticu y escritor de ciencia ficción Damon Knight en 1963 y treslladáronse a vivir a Eugene (Oregón). Damon Knight finó en 2002.
Carrera El so primer rellatu de ficción publicáu foi The Pint-Size Genie na revista Fantastic n'ochobre de 1956. A añu siguiente publicó un rellatu na Analog Science Fiction and Fact de John W. Campbell, y diez de los sos rellatos de ficción especulativa publicar ente 1958 y 1959. La so primer novela foi policial, More Bitter Than Death (1963), y la so primer novela de ciencia ficción, Invasión soterraña (The Clone, 1965), foi finalista del Premiu Nébula.
Los sos trabayos publicáronse revistes como The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, Locus, Amazing Stories, Asimov's Science Fiction, Ellery Queen's Mystery Magacín, Fantastic, Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magacín o Cosmopolitan, ente otres munches.
Al pie del so segundu maríu, Damon Knight, fueron mentores de munchos autores noveles y collaboraron na creación del Taller d'Escritores Clarion y del Taller d'Escritores Milford. Tres la muerte de Knight en 2002, Wilhelm siguió collaborando en talleres mensuales, según dando conferencies y otros eventos. En 2012, xunto con Richard Wilhelm, Sue Arbuthnot y Jonathan Knight, creó InfinityBox Press, LLC.
