És una espècie enèmica d'Àsia.
Etimologia El nom específic, andersonii, és en honor de l'herpetòleg escocès John Anderson.
Distribució geogràfica Habita a Hong Kong i Vietnam.
Hàbitat Els hàbitats naturals preferits són els boscos i els aiguamolls d'aigua dolça, a altituds de 300–900 m.
Descripció Dorsalment és de color oliva negrós. Ventralment, és blanquinós, excepte la barbeta i les labials inferiors, que són marrons. El musell és curt, ample i prim. Les escates dorsals, que estan disposades en 17 files al llarg de tota la longitud del cos, són llises al coll, feblement aquillades a la meitat del cos i fortament aquillades a la cua. Els exemplars adults tenen una longitud total (inclosa la cua) de 38-46 cm. La cua representa el 15-20% de la longitud total.
