Jack Conway (parfois crédité John Conway) (né le à Graceville, dans le Minnesota et mort le , dans le quartier de Pacific Palisades, à Los Angeles, en Californie) est un réalisateur, acteur et producteur américain.
Biographie
En 1917, Jack Conway travaille pour la Triangle Film Corporation compagnie dans laquelle il fut l'un des principaux réalisateurs.
En 1925, il se joint à la firme Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM). Il y travaillera pendant les 22 années qui suivent. Il y dirige notamment le premier film parlant de la firme, Jimmy le mystérieux (1928), le seul film parlant mettant en vedette Lon Chaney, Le Club des trois (1930) ainsi que le premier film parlant consacré aux exploits d'Arsène Lupin (1932). Il termine le tournage de Viva Villa ! (1934), amorçé par Howard Hawks.
En 1937, Conway voit deux de ses films être en lice pour l'Oscar du meilleur film : Le Marquis de Saint-Évremont, luxueuse adaptation du roman A Tale of Two Cities de Charles Dickens, et Une fine mouche, une comédie mettant en vedette quatre des acteurs les plus célèbres de l'époque : Myrna Loy, Jean Harlow, William Powell et Spencer Tracy. Mais Conway lui-même ne sera pas en nomination pour l'Oscar du meilleur réalisateur.
