The Durutti Column è un gruppo musicale formatosi a Manchester all'inizio del 1978. Il gruppo, che ruota intorno alla figura del chitarrista Vini Reilly (Vincent Gerard Reilly), è stato uno dei primi a firmare per l'etichetta Factory Records di Tony Wilson. Scheda su trouserpress.com.
Il nome del gruppo proviene da un fumetto (La Retour de la Colonne Durutti) prodotto nel 1966 dal francese André Bertrand, membro della Internationale Anarchiste e allora studente all'Università di Strasburgo. Bertrand si ispirò alla cosiddetta Colonna Durruti, capitanata dall'anarchico spagnolo Buenaventura Durruti (di cui Bertrand trascrisse male il cognome). Scheda su theideaofthebook.com.
