Biografia Renkse ha iniziato l'attività musicale nei primi anni novanta fondando i Katatonia inisme al chitarrista Anders Nyström. Fino al 1998 Renkse è stato anche il batterista del gruppo.
Nel corso della sua carriera è stato anche un membro degli October Tide nonché il bassista del gruppo death metal Bloodbath. All'inizio della sua carriera utilizzava gli pseudonimi Lord Seth e Lord J. Renkse.
I suoi testi trattano spesso temi molto scuri come l'isolamento e la generale incompatibilità con la società e le convenzioni umane.
