La 50ª edizione dei Grammy Awards si è svolta il 10 febbraio 2008 allo Staples Center di Los Angeles. La cerimonia è stata trasmessa in diretta televisiva negli Stati Uniti dall'emittente CBS.
La cantautrice britannica Amy Winehouse, è stata l'artista più premiata dell'edizione con cinque statuette, di cui alla canzone e registrazione dell'anno per Rehab. L'artista è così divenuta la quinta artista a ottenere cinque premi in una sola cerimonia, eguagliando il record di Lauryn Hill, Norah Jones, Alicia Keys e Beyoncé.
Performance e controversie Il cinquantesimo anniversario dei Grammy e della National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences è stato celebrato con vari riferimenti ad artisti e esibizioni di brani premiati nelle passate edizioni.

Negazione del visto a Winehouse La presenza alla cerimonia della cantautrice britannica Amy Winehouse era stata annunciata dalla manifestazione, che tuttavia dovette ritirarla in quanto le autorità statunitensi negarono il visto all'artista per via del programma di disintossicazione per alcolismo e tossicodipendenza a cui si era sottoposta nei mesi precedenti. La decisione delle autorità è stata ritirata in seguito, non permettendo tuttavia la partenza dal Regno Unito dell'artista per le tempistiche di organizzazione della cerimonia.
