Описание Голова, включая глаза, примерно такой же ширины, как мезонотум, или уже. Задний воротник переднеспинки очень узкий. Крылья прозрачные. Оперкулум у самца маленький, чешуевидный. Брюшной стернит III (а иногда и стернит IV) у самцов во многих родах имеет бугорчатые выступы на каждой боковой поверхности (за пределами этого трибы этот признак не встречался). Брюшной стернит VII у самцов отчетливо отделен от тергита 7 складками.
Распространение Северная Америка, Южная и Юго-Восточная Азия.
Систематика Включает около 40 родов и более 230 видов. Таксон в современном понимании был впервые выделен в 1923 году английским энтомологом John Coney Moulton (1886—1926) в ранге подтрибы LeptopsaltriinaMoulton, J.C. (1923a) Cicadas of Malaysia.
